Cricket Secretary’s 2015 New Season blog

DSC01036Hello and welcome to the new 2015 cricket season at Indian Gymkhana.

With promotion secured by the 1’s last year to the Middlesex Premier League, this promises  to be an exciting year ahead, both on and off the field.

First a bit of good news, in 2014 we completed the construction of our three lane outdoor net facilities. The nets sit well in the landscape and are already making a massive difference to our coaching style and practice of players young and old. Please make use of the nets with your captains and age-group coaches.

There’s been a huge amount of behind-the-scenes work going on since the close of the 2014 season.  The square is looking fantastic. A special thank you to Dhiru Gosai for all his hard work in facilitating the winter work with our resident groundsman (Dave).

Following the 2014 AGM the cricket committee for the new season is as follows:

  1. Hon. Secretary       –           Sarbjit Dhillon
  2. Asst. Secretary       –           Harpal Bawa
  3. Club Captain           –           Davinder Rehncy
  4. 1st XI Captain          –           Rakesh Khade
  5. 2nd XI Captain         –           Anil Dhand
  6. 3rd XI Captain         –           Shariq Imam
  7. 4th XI Captain         –           Sohail Sheikh
  8. Colts Secretary      –           Sanjay Sood
  9. Fixture Secretary   –           Nutan Shah
  10. Treasurer                –           Chitrang Shah

If you are reading this for the first time and would like to join the club, please have a look at the contacts list and get in touch. We don’t bite and openly welcome quality and committed players!

I’d also like thank those who have already signed up to become members of the club. Our ambition and vision is dependent on a solid financial base so please pay your membership early and ensure you pay your match fees on the day. Don’t be that person everyone talks about!

I am convinced that with determination, resolve and a governing principle of family, recreation and good old-fashioned competitive (but fair) play, this will be an exciting year for us. The next few months, even weeks, present important milestones to achieve. This summer promises so many good times, actually make that fantastic times! Keep spreading the word.

Finally I’m crossing my fingers for a dry summer with light overnight rain so we get plenty of cricket and the pitches are hard and spinning.

Good Luck and please enjoy the season with a smile.

Sarbjit Dhillon
Hon. Secretary Cricket Section
